Mission to Ukraine 2006. We apologize for this dated material. We will soon compile it into a history of this program.

HUNGARY MISSION TRIP 2004
Session 1: June 3 - 16, 2004; Session 2: June 16 - 29, 2004

What is the Hungary Team 2004 all about?

The History: In 2001, the Lord brought together Henry Neufeld, President of PBS, and Mike and Shirley Bradley, Global Fish Finders, missionaries to Hungary. The Bradleys have been working in that country since 1985 and brought their vision and knowledge of the lost and hurting souls into the PBS vision to equip the ordained and laity to build the kingdom of God. As they shared together about what God was doing, the connection began.

In June 2002, the first mission teams were formed, representing 5 cities and 7 churches. Team members 'signed up' for a 13-day trip with 5 deciding to go for the full 26 days. Each member felt a 'call' to this trip, not always knowing the "why" but willing to go where the Lord was directing. Testimonies are numerous on how God worked out job schedules and financial provision for the trip and home responsibilities. God was faithful when His children were obedient!

The Leadership: Henry Neufeld was raised in the mission fields of Guyana and Mexico. With his father, a physician, and his mother, a nurse, Henry and his siblings learned early about service and flexibility in an unfamiliar culture. Now with his M.A. in Biblical Languages, Henry takes his personal study of the Bible and combines it with his personal experience with the Lord and encourages his "students" to do the same.

After 25 years as a nurse, including 12 years in hospice care, Jody Neufeld brings her life experiences, which she says have defined her "intimate life with God". She has been described as a "prayer warrior" and is used by the Lord to encourage and disciple others.

The Teams: God puts out His call to serve and people answer. Working together in obedience and unity is essential if we want the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us. As you pray about your role in this mission trip, know that whom God has called, He WILL equip.

Each team will have a team leader that will coordinate the group in day to day activities.

Children's Team: This team of at least 5-6 individuals will work with approximately 30 children and 3-4 of their adult leaders to provide Bible study, crafts, worship, and physical activities for the 10 days that each group of children are at the camp. These children will be from the Ukraine or local Hungarian gypsy children. Most of these children are extremely poor and have had limited or no exposure to the Good News of Jesus Christ. We will come prepared to provide all the elements of the daily lessons but remain flexible to incorporate the suggestions of their leadership in meeting the group's needs.

Work Team: This team of people will work with the staff at the Friendship International Farm to accomplish the tasks that fill current needs. They are currently building a conference building which FI plans to use to bring groups for teaching and camping. General construction and landscaping are the wide range possibilities we know now. As we get closer to the time we will know more specifics.

Additional Opportunities: We pray there will again be ministry opportunities through the local missionaries and pastors.

Dorcas Aid International: Dorcas Aid International is a Christian relief and development organization, committed to fulfill the command of Jesus Christ to us, as the Body of Believers, to take care of the poor and oppressed (Matt. 25:31-46), by partnering with local Christian organizations/churches; promoting self reliance through development and providing assistance in emergency situations.

Dorcas began in 1980 as a small group of people in the Netherlands mainly focused on assisting those imprisoned for their faith under the communist regime. Now, over twenty years later, Dorcas Aid International is operating world-wide providing social, development and relief aid through over 100 projects in more than 20 countries.

The Dorcas Center near Debrecen is a multi-acre facility, similar to our church camp facilities.

Friendship International(FI): As an interdenominational ministry, founded in 1990, FI seeks to meet the needs of the people of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union at the intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social levels. (Luke 2:52)

Through music, orphanage, and camp ministries, evangelistic outreaches, seminar training, humanitarian relief and work projects, FI is committed to equip and train for the purpose of building up the body of Christ and the effective communication of the Gospel.

FI believe in developing an indigenous ministry in the countries where it ministers, by working alongside nationals and training them for continued ministry.

The Farm is a camp ministry site for seminars, evangelistic outreach, and work projects in the Debrecen area.

Henry Neufeld with Zhanett Fodor, Children's leader from Szorte, UkraineCounting the Cost
Drawing from our experience, PBS has calculated the proposed cost per person.

  • $1600 for one session or
  • $2000 for both sessions
  • $1000 due March 1, 2004
  • balance due May 1, 2004
This will include:
  • Room and Board at camp/farm
  • Airline ticket, round-trip to and from a major US city close to you and Budapest, Hungary
  • Ground transportation in Budapest
  • Overnight stay in Budapest as you return to the U.S.A.
This does not include:

While there is no air conditioning, we found the temperatures to be moderate and even cool at night and we did have fans. The camp provides linens but no towels or pillows. We are still working out the specifics of similar accommodations at the Farm.

Our 'farewell' evening in Budapest at the end of each session will be in a *** star hotel with private bath and special dinner.

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4
